Comprehensive masterplanning of the site will also result in vacant land being cleared of derelict structures and transformed into a new neighbourhood of 20 homes. The homes will be supported by 2,000 sqm of new commercial and retail buildings allowing a variety of other business to grow and modernise their facilities in the community.
The residential dwellings will help to sustain the commercial offer and provide a range of market and affordable housing to create a sense of community and provide much needed new housing in the area. Proposals also feature areas of new open space, including new planting, sustainable drainage features, green buffers, and local areas of play.
The proposals were developed through a comprehensive stakeholder engagement process to deliver a sustainable neighbourhood which carefully considers the requirements of the existing community. The design team engaged directly with Bersted Parish Council and the statutory authorities.
JTP and Landform have also prepared proposals for future regeneration west of the consented site, for a further 200 homes and extensive landscaping including formal and informal open space, a community orchard, and improved new pedestrian and cycle connections.
